Well, according to our external thermometer, today is the coldest day of the year so far. At about 8am, it was reading -2, and there was a beautiful frost layer on our velux windows, with the winter sun shining through it. So I thought I’d try an experiment and switch the heating off: The inside temperature (in the hall) was reading 18.5c then(which is warm enough for us – we keep the thermostat relatively low). How would it change through the day? Over the next couple of hours, it sank to 17.5, but then actually went up again to 18 thanks to the winter sun heating the front of the house and that warmth being spread elsewhere. It’s now gone back down to 17.5c as the sun has gone in, while the outside temperature has gone up to about 6c. So 5 hours after turning the heat off, the house has lost about 1 degree. Obviously the insulation and the MVHR system do a good job together.

Christ, I saw your double glazed sliding sash windows on the Refit West write up on the Forum for the Future website. Can I ask where you had them made? We would like to get some done and have had a wide range of prices/qualities. thanks, David
It was Footprint who did ours.
