Side wall insulated

The external insulation on the long side wall was completed a couple of months ago. We used Urbane Building and were very happy with them. Some compromises were made. Not only did we only do the one wall, we also went for 800mm wood fibre board since that meant we did not have to extend the main section of roof. Visually the result has been better than we could have hoped. The front edge of the insulation is hidden behind a drainpipe and the extra depth to (all the) windows looks perfectly ok from inside and out. I am looking forward to seeing the reduction in gas useage next winter.

While the work was being done we replaced two of the remaining secondarily glazed windows and a couple of small jobs – including installing swift nest boxes in the eaves. We have cameras installed too. We just need the swifts to take up residence next year!
